The Fusilier Museum has moved to a grade 2 listed building in Bury’s cultural quarter.
The former technical school known as the Arts and Crafts Centre is a magnificent example of late Victorian architecture. It provides space at ground floor level for both the Lancashire Regimental Headquarters and for the museum and its associated facilities which will include a café, shop, education and meeting spaces.
The new museum entrance is opposite the Bury Museum and Art Gallery and offers views from the street into the attractive museum shop and café. The Lutyen’s War Memorial has now been relocated into Gallipoli Garden (formerly known as Sparrow Park).
The Museum displays and interprets the magnificent collection of the Lancashire Fusiliers and is the home and focal point of the growing collection of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
The story of the amalgamated Regiments since 1968 feature in the displays which will be modern, interactive and widely accessible.
There is a lively programme of changing exhibitions, activities and events, and facilities for both unsupervised computer research and for public access to the archive and library. Facilities are available for letting the large education room and the panelled boardroom for meetings, training seminars and dinners.
